Legal Services
Family Matters
Family Court is a difficult place to navigate for the
non-lawyer, yet
many people want to try to represent themselves in all or part
of their
case. However, when it comes to drafting the divorce
judgment,
dealing with court mediation, trying to calculate child
support and so
forth, the terrain gets rather complicated. "Unbundling"
of legal
services means hiring counsel to only give advice and services
for some
aspect of the case. It is not a situation where the
attorney will
enter a general appearance and represent the client in the
entire
case. I can help the client deal with the area where
he/she feels
uncomfortable and needs legal advice. Services are on a
per hour
basis, and are paid for when the service is rendered.
Estate Planning and Probate
Matters
Wills, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives
(living
wills) are all important legal documents that everyone should
have. Just because some form from the Internet looks
good, does
not mean it is good. I can carefully listen to your
situation and
desires and craft documents that fulfill your needs under
Maine law.
I can also help clients deal with issues brought on by aging
such as
guardianship and conservatorship. Most of the time can
be taken
care of by pre-need drafting of powers of attorney to deal
with the
later need of someone to handle the older persons affairs for
them
without and expensive probate court proceeding.
When there is an estate that needs probate, I can handle that
for the
client, and I will set things up so the client can do
everything
possible themselves without the necessity for paying for
unneeded legal
services.
Home appointments are available.
Business Advice and Services
Small businesses are in constant need of advice, and I have
been
providing legal advice to many small businesses for
years. I am
available to meet with you at your place of business, which
means you
don't take time away from it.
